Bernabéu Stadium Tours

The Santiago Bernabéu has been Real Madrid’s home since 1947, and the stadium you tour today is largely a new building. A steel shell wraps the old stands, a retractable roof covers the pitch, and the Tour Bernabéu has been rebuilt to match. The route, in order

The official Tour Bernabéu ticket follows a one-way route. You enter at Gate 84 on Avenida de Concha Espina, pass the security check and climb to the first stop.

Panoramic view. The visit opens high in the stands, looking across a bowl of around 80,000 seats to the new roof. The scale is the first thing people talk about afterwards.

The museum. This is the longest section. Real Madrid calls it the only place in the world where you can see the club’s 15 Champions League titles together, and they are displayed in one long, dark room that most visitors photograph end to end. Around them are league trophies, Ballon d’Or awards, original shirts and boots, and interactive displays on the basketball and women’s teams. Changing room and benches. On non-match days the route reaches the first-team changing room and the benches beside the pitch. Real Madrid also lists a temporary visit to the press room, subject to availability.

The shop. The route ends in the official store. A souvenir photo with the Champions League trophy is sold separately along the way.

Ticket, guided or private?

Timing your visit

The tour is open every day except 25 December and 1 January. Monday to Saturday it runs from 9am to 7pm, and on Sundays and holidays from 9:30am to 6:30pm. Mornings are usually calmer, and the best time to visit guide covers seasons and days of the week.

Fixtures matter more than the calendar. On match days the tour stops five and a half hours before kick-off, and the changing rooms and benches are closed that day and the day before. Is the Bernabéu tour worth it?

For most visitors to Madrid, yes. The trophy room alone justifies the ticket for anyone who follows football, and the renovated stadium impresses people who do not: the steel shell, the new roof and a bowl of around 80,000 seats seen from the top of the stands. The Classic ticket takes about 90 minutes and needs nothing more than a time slot.

It is less worth it on a match day or the day before, when the changing room and benches are closed and the route is shorter for the same price. • Football fans and Real Madrid followers, who will spend longest in the museum.
• First-time visitors to Madrid with a spare morning, since the tour needs no planning beyond a time slot.
• Families, as long as children can manage a route with stairs and some standing. Under-5s go free.
• Non-fans travelling with a fan, who usually get more from a guided tour, where the guide tells the stories behind the silverware.

Practical tips

• Book online. Tickets are sold for a time slot with limited capacity, and the ticket office charges €3 more.
• Travel light. There is no cloakroom or locker. Real Madrid allows suitcases and pushchairs on the route, but it has many flights of stairs, so leave luggage at your hotel.
• Pick a weekday with no match for the most predictable visit and the full route.
• Match tickets are separate. A tour ticket does not get you into a game, and a match ticket does not include the tour.
• Check the day before. Recheck your time slot, the fixture list and the metro service the day before you go.
